The BYO Contract Advantage: A Smarter Way to Contract
Introduction
Make Your Next Contract Work Harder For You
Whether you already have a client in mind for your next role or your current role is going back to market, there's a contract structure that can increase your take‑home earnings – while reducing costs for your client.
It's called a Bring-Your-Own (BYO) contract – a fully structured engagement, just priced to reflect the work you've already done.
Here’s how it works.
What is a BYO Contract?
A BYO contract applies when you’ve sourced the role yourself through your own professional network, but the client requires engagement through a recruitment agency.
It also applies where your current engagement has concluded and the client needs to re-engage through a formal procurement or agency process.
In both scenarios, Resolve provides all the back-end infrastructure you need – payroll, tax compliance, insurance and ongoing support – at a reduced margin, reflecting the fact that sourcing and placement have already been done.
The outcome:
You take home more
Your client pays less
Your working relationship doesn’t change
How It Works
The process is simple. You reach out to us first – we'll talk through your situation, confirm the BYO arrangement and agree on pricing. From there, you nominate Resolve as your preferred agency and we take care of the rest: client engagement, contracts, tax compliance and ongoing support.
You stay in control of the client relationship. We handle everything behind the scenes.
What your client needs to know:
For most clients, a BYO arrangement is straightforward.
From their perspective, nothing changes. They receive the same contract infrastructure, compliance standards and insurance coverage they'd expect from any reputable agency. The only difference is the cost.
On a $150/hour contract, the margin reduction translates to a direct saving for your client too – making it an easier conversation than you might expect. In many cases, contractors find their clients are not only receptive, but appreciative of being presented with a more cost-effective option.
If your client has reservations about engaging a new agency, it's worth reassuring them that Resolve handles everything behind the scenes. The relationship they have with you doesn't change – we simply provide the infrastructure that makes it work.
A note on having the conversation:
You don't need to have all the answers before raising it with your client. If they're open to the idea, bring us in early – we're happy to speak with your client directly, answer any questions and make the transition as straightforward as possible.
What That Actually Looks Like
For example, if you’re on a $150/hour contract, that could mean up to $12,000 back in your take-home pay annually – for the exact same work, just structured more efficiently.
Since your client can also benefit from lower overall costs, this is a win-win for all.

Why This Model Makes Sense
BYO structures are a common form of contract engagement.
You've spent years building your network, developing client trust and establishing your reputation. When an opportunity comes directly through those efforts, paying a full sourcing margin simply doesn’t reflect reality.
A BYO contract acknowledges the value you’ve already created. You’re only paying for what you actually need – compliance, payroll, insurance and administration – not the services you didn’t use.
